India Bridal Fashion Week: First Up, Tarun Tahiliani

Obviously Shahzadis I am not lucky enough to attend this year’s Indian Bridal Fashion Week, but with the magic of the internet, I can now commence drooling over the first presenter at IBFW! All I have to say is that Tarun Tahiliani is just mesmerizing with his depiction of a bride.  In Tahiliani’s eyes.. a bride is truly a Shahzadi! Vogue India wrote,

“Highlights from Tahiliani this season include peplum cholis and asymmetrical lehengas that curl up shorter in the front and trail in the back. Also included were slim mermaid gown kurtas, trim sharara silhouettes and the fascinating evolution of the pre-stitched, belted sari and the sari gown — both of which Tahiliani is credited for launching into modern bridal trends.”

Here is a round up of my favorites from his collection!

Classy and vintage, the intricate designs of this piece showcases the care of creating a work of art but the colours give it a breezy feel about it that makes it look like a dream to wear on your big day!

An amazing outfit for the quintessential princess that played with tutus as a child.  This piece paired with its 1920′s styling is a juxtaposition of a Glam Princess! I love the net overcoat over top of the tulle lehnga.  It is so unique.. it makes me want to dance :)

I love the blush pink and the belted-ness of this outfit.  It’s just lovely.  I love his use of nude fabrics, complemented with light sweet colours.  I think the modern bride would love to be able to incorporate the traditional hints of pink with a more understated elegance of nude.

If you’ve been reading my blog, you know I am slightly OBSESSED with this colour; and with ombre taking the world by storm, it’s no surprise that I could not hold myself together while drooling over the keyboard.. what is a girl to do?? Too bad I’m already off the market… I love how Tahiliani marries tradition with current with the use of classic silhouettes and a trendy colour selection.

I love this design.  Boroque in nature, Tahiliani reaches into a gothic inspiration for this look.  For the Shahzadi that wants to make a big impact, I can see a strong, fierce bride carry off this look.  I love the shades of red, rust, maroon, with muted gold detailing that finish this look off so well! Again the 1920′s finger waves and dark eyes are really bringing royalty into this look.

I am loving it! I can’t wait to see what awaits me at the next show of India Bridal Week.

Stay tuned Shahzadis as I take you through all my favorites of this Wedding Season!

OMG. I *HEART* South Asian Clothes!

OMG Shahzadis! I’ve set a record- 2 blog posts in ONE DAY!

*GASP* Leap day is helping me out! YAY!

So the day has been pretty uneventful and the dreary weather in my neck of the woods is not helping my case.  So, to brighten my day… I went online to look at lovely clothing! This morning I was doing a post on the Pantone Fall 2012 Colour Trend report and when I was looking at these beautiful south Asian outfits, I was pleasantly surprised to see so many different outfits following the colour trends that are SO hot right now!

I was surfing my fave online south Asian boutique… the unfortunate thing is they only ship in the US. So I only really gather inspiration from them. But if you live in the States check out Exclusively.in <– *LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT ALLERT*

Here are some amazingly simple yet BEAUTIFUL clothing!!

so elegant! no?

Imagine going to a Holud in the Salwar Kameez or a Wedding in the Saree! the Saree is a headturner FOR SURE!

This is a casual Saree I would wear to a post wedding dinner or casual event! It’s a bold colour but it works on a variety of skin tones!

Pantone Olympian Blue

This colour is so flattering for south Asian clothing because it works so well with heavy embroidery and fabrics like brocade.

Pantone Pink Flambé

Pink Flambe is my OBSESSION! I love this colour! It’s FUN, and LOUD, just like a sangeet you could wear it to!

Pantone Tangerine Tango

ditto, this tangerine tango is dancing around in my head! MUST GET NOW!

Pantone Ultramarine Green

Naturally I would not like this colour… but I love they way the colour is used in both peices!

Pantone Rose Smoke

*killing me softly… * *in heaven*

Pantone Titanium

This saree is super modern and ready to be worn to a party!

I love how it not only incorporates the Titanium Grey but also animal print!

I hope this post inspired you to encorporate some of the hot colours of the year into your wardrobe this wedding season!

I know you’ll knock’em dead Shahzadis!
