{Celebrity Shahzadi} Lisa Ray Marries Jason Dehlvi

This October Lisa Ray, actress, philanthropist and social activist married her long time partner Jason Dehlvi in a non-denominational ceremony.

After having a significant career in modeling and film in Bollywood, she became a cross-cultural phenomenon when she broke barriers and took on controversial social issue oriented films.

Diagnosed with Multiple Melanoma in 2009, fans got to experience her battle with cancer as she wrote a Blog, “The Yellow Diaries”  And after a successful stem cell transplant, Lisa went into remission in 2010 and has been cancer free ever since!

Let’s take a look at a few select shots from her gorgeous Napa Valley Wedding as posted by The Business of Cinema:

That is the picture of a very excited, and rightly so, Shahzadi! And why would she not be!? She’s the princess of the day!

Even though it was non-denominational, the couple opted to do a garland exchange out of respect for her Bengali father’s wish to maintain this south Asian tradition.

A classy woman and her man, Her dress is just so pretty. I love the simple elegance and how the cut flatters her figure in the most beautiful way! I also LOVE the ivory colour! Not only does she look amazing, so does Jason Dehlvi! Debonair would be the word for him! His tux complete with his pocket square is an excellent complement to Lisa’s dress!

Perched in a vineyard, I love the fact that fall has been highlighted through the use burnt orange and maroon and hints of yellow! VERY Elegant!

Lisa looks graceful in a custom Satya Paul blush sari embroidered in silver gold and bronze.  I also love the slight ombre that this sari features.

I LOVE her choice of blouse designs.  She kept it timeless and classic by opting for sleeves and a covered back design (Note to self: get a blouse made like this ASAP)

Check out her BLING Shahzadis!

Shahzadis, what can I say, Lisa’s wedding oozed of elegance.  I think this wedding was a pure reflection of their love and the couple’s personality.  I love many aspects of this wedding.  First, they married in Napa Valley, where they originally got engaged, which brings their journey full circle.  She opted to keep things very simple which says a lot about the kind of Shahzadi she is.  I love the sheer sweetness of each photo in the series because it reflects their love very obviously.  They opted to respect both cultures by having understated influences rather than picking one culture to adhere their ceremony to.  I think this is one of the most beautiful celebrity weddings I have ever seen for the simple fact that their celebrity was completely understated and their love took center stage!

India Bridal Fashion Week: First Up, Tarun Tahiliani

Obviously Shahzadis I am not lucky enough to attend this year’s Indian Bridal Fashion Week, but with the magic of the internet, I can now commence drooling over the first presenter at IBFW! All I have to say is that Tarun Tahiliani is just mesmerizing with his depiction of a bride.  In Tahiliani’s eyes.. a bride is truly a Shahzadi! Vogue India wrote,

“Highlights from Tahiliani this season include peplum cholis and asymmetrical lehengas that curl up shorter in the front and trail in the back. Also included were slim mermaid gown kurtas, trim sharara silhouettes and the fascinating evolution of the pre-stitched, belted sari and the sari gown — both of which Tahiliani is credited for launching into modern bridal trends.”

Here is a round up of my favorites from his collection!

Classy and vintage, the intricate designs of this piece showcases the care of creating a work of art but the colours give it a breezy feel about it that makes it look like a dream to wear on your big day!

An amazing outfit for the quintessential princess that played with tutus as a child.  This piece paired with its 1920′s styling is a juxtaposition of a Glam Princess! I love the net overcoat over top of the tulle lehnga.  It is so unique.. it makes me want to dance :)

I love the blush pink and the belted-ness of this outfit.  It’s just lovely.  I love his use of nude fabrics, complemented with light sweet colours.  I think the modern bride would love to be able to incorporate the traditional hints of pink with a more understated elegance of nude.

If you’ve been reading my blog, you know I am slightly OBSESSED with this colour; and with ombre taking the world by storm, it’s no surprise that I could not hold myself together while drooling over the keyboard.. what is a girl to do?? Too bad I’m already off the market… I love how Tahiliani marries tradition with current with the use of classic silhouettes and a trendy colour selection.

I love this design.  Boroque in nature, Tahiliani reaches into a gothic inspiration for this look.  For the Shahzadi that wants to make a big impact, I can see a strong, fierce bride carry off this look.  I love the shades of red, rust, maroon, with muted gold detailing that finish this look off so well! Again the 1920′s finger waves and dark eyes are really bringing royalty into this look.

I am loving it! I can’t wait to see what awaits me at the next show of India Bridal Week.

Stay tuned Shahzadis as I take you through all my favorites of this Wedding Season!

Leap into Colours by Pantone Fall 2012 Trend Report

HAPPY LEAP DAY! SHAHZADIS!

For those of you planning your weddings/events, you have an extra day of planning to get things perfect!! *YAY*

An event is a reflection of its host.  We all know this.  When you are planning an event my Shahzadis, the first place you should start is a theme.

Themes could simply be a colour combination.  Pantone came out with their hottest colour trends report for Fall 2012 and the colours are FANTASTIC!

Can you imagine a  Pink Flambe and Tango Tangerine combination?  It can be done for a ceremony or even a bridal shower or Mehndi <3 *LOVE*

Another colour I am just loving is Chartreuse!  You can center an entire event around this colour if you are feeling really bold, or use pops of this colour around your event.  Both applications are just amazing!

A really pretty colour combo for a Nikkah is using Blush tomes.. like the colour Rose Smoke

These colours are what’s hot right now. but remember… this event is yours and it should be what you want to see out of it! Make sure that you love your colour palette as it will be immortalized in the pictures for years to come.  I hope I was able to get those juices flowing! Let’s use this extra day in the year to get some solid planning done!
